Jepson House Benefactors to be Honored
Savannah, Ga., June 26, 2013 - The Georgia Historical Society will honor Robert and Alice Jepson tomorrow with an event celebrating the completion of the major gifts phase of the Georgia Historical Society Jepson House Education Center Capital Campaign.
Named in honor of philanthropists Robert and Alice Jepson, the soon-to-be renovated Jepson House Education Center will be the location from which all GHS educational programming and services will be planned and disseminated around the state.
“We are very thankful to Bob and Alice for their generous support of the Georgia Historical Society and their commitment to bolster cultural and educational nonprofits throughout Georgia,” said Dr. W. Todd Groce, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Georgia Historical Society. “As principal benefactors, Bob and Alice are joined by others in this capital campaign who are making it possible for GHS to expand our work and reach an even broader worldwide audience as we foster educational programming, expand our collections, and issue publications about Georgia History.”
The short program will be held in what will be the Thomas Leverette McMullan Boardroom, named for the late father of GHS Board member John F. McMullan. During that time Dr. Groce will present Mr. Jepson with the portrait by Steve Penley commissioned by Georgia Trend magazine when they named him their Most Respected Business Leader for 2013.
“We look forward to breaking ground on the renovation in the very near future and making the Jepson House Education Center a reality for everyone seeking knowledge about public history in Georgia,” added Groce. “This is only the beginning of what will be many great things to come.”
