Savannah, Ga., June 18, 2015 - The Georgia Historical Society will present the Roger K. Warlick Local History Achievement Award in Exhibits to the Bulloch County Historical Society (BCHS) for the Bulloch County Family Tree exhibit.
Bulloch County's Family Tree is a seven-foot-by-five-foot statue of an eagle located permanently outside of the Statesboro Regional Library. The eagle was designed by local artist Scott Foxx to tell the story of Bulloch County and its pioneers. In addition to the exhibit, BCHS created a supplementary activity booklet to explain the iconography on the eagle, as well as providing genealogical activities for children and adults to complete. Bulloch County's Family Tree is a permanent public art project sponsored by the BCHS as part of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at Georgia Southern University's Eagle National On Parade.

The Warlick awards, named in honor of former Georgia Historical Society President Roger K. Warlick, are given each year by the Georgia Historical Society and serve to honor those affiliate chapters whose original projects or ideas utilize historical resources in new and interesting ways and make local history relevant and meaningful to the community, allowing audiences to make the important connections between the past and the present.
The award will be presented by Elyse Butler, Membership and Outreach Coordinator for the Georgia Historical Society at the BCHS Annual Meeting, Monday, June 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Nessmith Lane Center on the campus of Georgia Southern University.
