The author of "Forrest Gump" is coming to speak in Savannah, where the movie version of his best-selling book was filmed.

Winston Groom will give a lecture Feb. 5 at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church during the Georgia History Festival. He will speak about John C. Fremont, who in 1856 became the first presidential candidate to run under the banner of the Republican Party.
