Gordon Saussy

A native to Savannah, Gordon Saussy devoted his career to serving the city. He is remembered for his creation of the legislative bill in 1925 that established the Savannah Port Authority, a department he served as a legal counsel for the remainder of his career. He served two terms as mayor of Savannah from 1929-1931 and was elected Judge of the Court of Ordinary from 1931 until his death in 1952. Saussy served as president of the Georgia Historical Society from 1944-1945. Judge Saussy is buried at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Savannah.
