Thomas Heyward Gignilliat was born in 1897 into a prominent Savannah family. Although a native of Washington D.C., Mr. Gignilliat was an active member of several Savannah institutions including serving as president of the Georgia Historical Society from 1964-1966. Mr. Gignilliat died on January 1, 1988, and is buried at Savannah’s Bonaventure Cemetery.
