Albert Sidney Britt Jr. was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1908. A graduate of Virginia Military Institute, Britt went on to have a decorated military career with the United States Army, including commanding an artillery battalion during the Second World War. After retiring from the army, he moved back to Savannah and became involved in local organizations including serving as president of the Georgia Historical Society from 1970-1974. Colonel Britt died in 1992 and is buried in Savannah’s Bonaventure Cemetery.
