Savannah, Ga., April 27, 2017 - The Georgia Historical Society (GHS) will be holding its Annual Book Sale this Saturday, April 29 in the GHS Research Center at 501 Whitaker Street in Savannah. The sale will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with a special GHS members-only preview from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
This popular annual event raises much-needed funds for the GHS Research Center. Proceeds from the sale are used to purchase new materials and to care for the oldest collection of Georgia history. “Our Annual Book Sale is always a great event for GHS,” said Lynette Stoudt, Director of the Research Center. “It is an important fundraiser for the Research Center, and it also gives us a chance to welcome the public into our beautiful reading room housed in Hodgson Hall.”
As an extra bonus for attending the book sale, patrons will have the opportunity to win prints of August Koch’s 1891 “Bird’s Eye View of Savannah” by finding and purchasing select books containing golden tickets that are hidden throughout the book sale.
For more information or to donate books for the sale, please contact the GHS Research Center at 912.651.2125 or email library@georgiahistory.com.
