Today in Georgia History
Today in Georgia History is joint production of the Georgia Historical Society and Georgia Public Broadcasting. Today In Georgia History is an exciting, award-winning educational project that focuses on an historical event or person associated with a particular day in Georgia history. The 90-second episodes aired from September 2011 – to September 2013 on GPB TV and radio. Today in Georgia History won two Emmy Awards in 2013 for programming and writing excellence.
The short segments are available on the Today in Georgia History website, http://www.todayingeorgiahistory.org. This interactive website allows you to access streaming audio and video of the episodes, as well as a host of educator resources, including transcripts, tips for teachers, curriculum, writing prompts, review questions and discussion topics, classroom exercises, follow-up research topics and selected primary-source material. Together, these resources reach students of all grade levels, cover all subject areas based on content, and align with Georgia’s social studies curriculum and performance standards.
