Image Reproduction Services

Image Reproduction Services

The Georgia Historical Society offers limited digital reproduction services of materials in its collection.

Fee based scanning services are available for materials that can withstand the process. The staff reserve the right to deny scanning requests based on the condition of the materials, copyright concerns, and donor-imposed restrictions. Use fees for images intended for commercial and non-profit purposes will be assessed.

Digital reproduction of oversize documents (items larger than 25×36) may be outsourced or handled offsite. Please see staff for pricing.

Please note: without exception, oversize documents will not be photocopied. At this time, GHS will deny requests to take oversize documents to large format photocopy services as machines used can be damaging to documents.

Use of digital cameras is permitted. Fees apply to this service. Please see Digital Camera Policy for further details.

See below for information on ordering digital image reproductions.

Photocopy Services

Photocopying services are available onsite. All photocopying is administered by the Georgia Historical Society staff and will remain at the reference desk until the end of the patron visit. Staff reserve the right to deny copy requests based on the condition of the materials and copyright concerns.  Staff also reserve the right to complete copy requests at a later date. Personal notes and non-library material will not be photocopied. Photocopying is limited to 50 pages.

Copyright Disclaimer

The copyright status of photographs and audiovisual material is often difficult to determine because it is affected by criteria such as the photographer’s employment status (i.e. work for hire), the date material was created, the date material was first published, and information associated with its first publication. It is the responsibility of the User to verify copyright status. Downloading an image from our website or any other website containing one of our images does not transfer copyright or property rights and does not constitute permission to publish or display in excess of fair use.
